I'm not against remakes but I'm saying that remakes of such games should be faithful to the original. Some things, cult games such as Final Fantasy VII, should be treated as a sacred piece of video game history and left the way they are. I don't know how they are going to put this story together anymore because once they get into the multiverse stuff, you know they're going to milk the series even more. Do I even need to mention that his death is the very foundation of Cloud's whole character? Now he's alive in a different timeline I guess? Yeah, as you can see folks, they ruined it. They succeed and guess what happens next? They change the fate of Zack as well. However, as soon as Tifa receives the foreshadowing of the meteor, she thinks that it's not the future they belong thus they must change it. This harbinger shows images from the future to everyone in the party and majority of them are actually good images like Nanaki running with his offsprings. So they go out to kill Harbinger of Fate, a new weapon. They introduce new entities called "Whispers" and they are supposedly ensure that the events will play out like in the original so that Cloud could kill Sephiroth and save the planet once more but guess what? Aerith decides to live longer and change her fate I suppose and tricks everyone into thinking that the future ahead is a dark one. then I hit the final chapter and it turns out that Sephiroth travelled back in time to mess with Cloud even more and the only one's aware of it is Aerith herself. The gameplay was fine despite having enormous amount of cutscenes and walking sequences, the graphics were stunning, storytelling and presentation of it was superb. After dealing with performance issues and somehow getting it to run properly, I dived into it with great excitement. I can't even describe how disappointed I was when I discovered that this one is a stealth sequel under the title of a "remake". The story looked faithful to the original as well but boy oh boy. Visually, it looked appealing and gameplaywise it felt like it's my cup of tea since I love real-time hack 'n' slash combat. I was pretty excited for Final Fantasy VII Remake after playing the original for the first time last year. Before anything, this review contains major spoilers! You can skip to TL DR part which includes a minor spoiler as well or stop reading it right now! Initially, I thought of giving this one thumbs down due to its scummy nature -will get to that later- however, after careful consideration and giving it some proper objective thought, I've decided to went with a thumbs up.
